These proven methods are guaranteed to help you stop smoking cigarettes without damaging your health further!
The best way to kick away this unhealthy habit is first and foremost psychological. Willpower goes a long way in determining whether your quest to stop smoking will be successful. Secondly, keep everything that has the remotest connection to smoking out of sight such as lighters and ashtrays as they will stimulate a desire in you to smoke. In the line with quitting as naturally as possible, always keep your hands busy on constructive duties to stave off the urge to hold a cigarette. It is easier to stop this bad habit when you realise that the buck stops with you.
The most common quitting method is going cold turkey. This is where someone is quitting smoking by halting their intake of nicotine abruptly by refusing to smoke cigarettes any longer. This method is one of the most successful methods, and about 90% of successful long term quitters have used this method to get there. The problem with this method is that it leads to very strong withdrawal symptoms that lead many people to relapse within the first few days.
There are five successive stages to quitting smoking:
• Pre-contemplation — not thinking about quitting
• Contemplation — thinking about quitting but not yet ready
• Preparation — getting ready to quit
• Action — quitting
• Maintenance — remaining a non-smoker
Proven methods that work effectively naturally are hypnotherapy, acupuncture or using a herbal remedy. Other successful ways to break the habit are using an electronic cigarette or vaporizers … these will gradually allow you to become a non-smoker without adding more chemicals into your body.
Hypnotherapy / Self Hypnosis
Majority of the cigarettes a smoker smokes are purely because of habit rather than any urge to smoke. This is the power of your mind. Hypnotherapy and Self-hypnosis are very useful ways of stopping this habit. To find your local hypnotherapist, email the Quit Guru, quitin60minutes@gmail.com
Acupuncture
This technique uses therapy hair like needles to pressurize certain pressure points around the ear and it can also be used in combination with certain medicinal oils for better results.
Electronic Cigarettes
This is a battery-operated cigarette that produces clouds of water vapor instead of burning tobacco or smoke. One of the most common reasons people give for not quitting smoking is that they have become comfortable with the feel of a cigarette in their hands and miss the touch of a cigarette. Some even say they just like to watch the smoke come out of their mouths. We are creatures of habit, which is why an electric cigarette or alternative to an actual cigarette to hold is better than a real one. Electronic cigarettes feel like you are smoking a real cigarette (it looks, feels and tastes the same) but doesn’t have the bad smell, chemicals and toxins such as carbon monoxide, tar etc and has very low levels of nicotine. In addition to the economical benefits, electronic cigarettes give smokers greater freedom and enable them to smoke in public places. They are safe (non-flammable), don’t smell at all, and eliminate the danger of second-hand smoking, it is also a great aid for smokers struggling to stop smoking. This is more effective than other NRT methods as it assists you to break the habit and action of smoking cigarettes.
Portable Vaporizers
Vaporizers consist of a dedicated mechanism to heat the herbal elements of the tobacco to an optimum temperature, which is suitable to vaporize the tobacco herb. As there is no combustion of the herb, it is safer on the health of the user and people surrounding the person. As the herbal vaporizers do not produce smoke, it does not leave any smell on you, your room and your clothes.
There is no staining of your teeth and clothes because of absence of tar and smoke. As there is almost no burning of the herb, portable vaporizers do not produce second hand smoke that is dangerous to health as well as not containing any tar, impurities, carcinogens and toxins.
Hypnosis CDs/Books
These can be highly effective if used on a regular basis with discipline to ensure that the repetitive messages and suggestions ingrain into your mind. There are also many quit smoking books and programs available that use different methods to try and help you kick the habit. Relaxation hypnosis cds to reduce stress will be a great tool to assist you to not only de-stress but to quit cigarettes for good!

My daughter, who started smoking by sneaking around and picking up her dad’s butts when she was just a teenager, quit smoking using Chantix after she saw her own daughter doing what she used to do! Now, at age 47, she is a healthy and happy non-smoker!
I know this site is about stop smoking naturally – but, in some instances the crutches seem to help. Do you ever recommend programs such as Chantix?

@Carol
Hi Carol,
Thanks for commenting on our site and that is a great question. We strongly recommend that you should always attempt to quit smoking naturally first to avoid any nasty and serious side effects from taking strong prescription drugs such as Chantix… Methods such as the ones listed above, in particular Hypnotherapy, have been proven to effectively help people quit cigarettes without damaging their bodies further with more toxins and chemicals that prescription medicine have.
This generally applies to all health related problems, most expert health professionals recommend natural remedies first before prescribing medicine.
In our opinion, people often incorrectly assume that conventional drugs just have “side effects”. But actually, in purely pharmacological terms, drugs do not just have side effects; but rather “effects” and physicians arbitrarily differentiate between those effects that they “like” as the “effects of the drug,” while they call those repercussions that they don’t like “side effects.” This is like saying that the effects of a bomb are that it destroys buildings, but its side effects are that it kills people. Needless to say, one cannot truly separate out one effect from the other. It’s a result of the bomb. Side effects are dangerous.
I guess what we are trying to say is, why not try healing yourself the natural way first – you have nothing to loose! And if worst case, it does not work then you can try other methods to quit cigarettes – the main thing is to find a way that works for you to quit this dangerous habit once and for all before it kills you!

Thank you so very much for your insight and honesty … yours is the first quit smoking information site that I have come across that not only tells the truth but actually provides beneficial information on how to quit smoking. I appreciate how you go outside the box and find alternative strategies to quitting that are safe and natural – and more importantly don’t involve taking prescription drugs and patches. I have been trying to quit smoking for a long time now, and I have tried zyban and clorpax, not only did these drugs not work – they made me sicker than I felt than when I was smoking. Not only did I lose my appetite and get migraines, I become really depressed, confused and angry and took it all out my (poor) partner… I also spent a lot of money on Nicotine patches and this did not help in any way, I feel it made my addiction stronger. I have been thoroughly reading through your site for a while now, and I decided to take up your advice on seeing the hypnotherapist and NLP practitioner that you recommend to see on your site, miraculously after one session – I quit – completely!!! It has now been 6 months since my last cigarette and I don’t even have a need or want to pick up a cigarette or smoke anymore! You and the hypnotherapist finally made me realise it wasn’t an ”addiction” that you are stuck with forever as the government and pharmaceutical industry wants you to think (cause they are corrupt and make more money by subliminally encouraging us to continue) it is just a habit that you can easily get rid of. So I just wanted to thank you from the bottom of my heart, for.. saving my life.. really! If anyone is reading this and wants to quit, I strongly recommend you see the hypnotherapist that I saw – the site is, http://www.quitin60minutesnow.com . Thanks again! : )))

this is such a great site and has finally helped me quit smoking with all your valuable information
thanks for making me realise I am not addicted (despite what the media and government and medical industry like you to think) … I think it hit me when you said how is it that people exposed to passive smoke don’t get addicted? it’s just a habit! a very strong one! I was also under the illusion that I would put on weight if I stopped …and you gave me the best advice that if I substituted my cravings for healthy food like fruit, I wouldn’t! And I have now quit and not put on any weight … it was just another myth! thanks again!

FINALLY! someone has answered my question about how to avoid cravings after you quit cold turkey!! thank you!! I didn’t know tobacco leaves were soaked in 18% sugar water … no wonder I have withdrawals … not one professional or doctor or quit site has said this – you are the first to tell the truth!!! Everyone else lies and says its nicotine withdrawals … which is not true as despite trying nicotine patches – I still had withdrawals and cravings!!! and since you told me it was actually the sugar component of the cigarette I have replaced it with healthy sugar snacks like fruit and my cravings and withdrawals are gone!!! amazing … great advice!

hey! Thanks for providing such a great resource for helping people quit smoking … great advice re: moving over to the “cause” side of the paradigm and moving away from the “Effects” … I kept smoking cause I thought I couldn’t stop … but your article made me have a light bulb moment and think – you are right these are just excuses, my “excuses” were no will power, stress, and thinking I was enjoying smoking … but your article was spot on when it said how can you use stress as I still smoke on holidays or when I am out enjoying myself etc! So I will now move to the “cause” side and take responsibility for my actions and understand I have the power to change things, as noone else can. When I was on the effect side I kept making excuses and blaming everyone else – but this won’t get you anywhere! I now have and will make a intentional effort to use my will power to quit smoking for life!

Hi,
I’m a non smoker and I find it incredibly irritating and rude when friends smoke around me – I am also always concerned when they smoke near /around my pregnant friends.
I’ve just read this informative article:
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2010/11/26/3077686.htm?section=justin
That claims that second-hand tobacco smoke kills upward of 600,000 people every year, nearly a third of them being children.
So, smokers, not only are you saving yourselves, you’re saving many others as well! Win win.

Thanks for referring me to the Quit Cigarettes in 60 Minutes Hypnosis team … it worked wonders and thanks to ONE session only I quit smoking – just fantastic! This is by far the cheapest way to quit as one session is only $450 … and you quit in the one session. Other methods I tried before not only failed completely but cost heaps! The nicotine patch program ended up costing me over $700 in the end … cause I had to keep on the program and keep buying patches as it kept failing! I also tried going to the Doctor and they just fed me more drugs by subscribing me to Zyban – this ended up making me sicker and cost me over $600 for that!!! So yeah, definitely recommend to all smokers who want to quit to see the Quit in 60 Minutes Hypnotherapist and NLP Practioner (www.quitin60minutesnow.com) as it’s cheap and saves you loads of money in the long run and is completely safe!!! and best of all it works! I quit after that one session and it’s now been 3 months off the smokes and will remain that way!

This is a great website and has helped me quit smoking successfully by making me realise that cigarette smoking is not addictive… Especially when you said that if nicotine was addictive – then why aren’t passive smokers addicted? Passive smokers get exposed to secondary smoke and don’t get addicted at all. The other thing you made me realise is that if cigarettes were addictive then how come me and most people can go without a cigarette for a week or more if they wanted to! It just shows it is all about will power only … it’s just a habit – all in the mind, controlled by your subconscious! Nicotine isn’t as addictive the media, government and pharmaceutical industry want you to think … they say it is a dangerously addictive substance but it can’t be if people can just quit cold turkey and stop when they want to … For people that can’t quit using their strength and will power alone – I would also recommend hypnotherapy to assist you and your mind to relieve of the habit …. the company that your site recommends is great and helped me quit – contact them at quitin60minutes@gmail.com or http://www.quitin60minutesnow.com
